The Tinman Triathlon is held at the Regional Fitness Center on the University of Minnesota Morris campus and brings together people in our community and across the region.
The Tinman has two courses to choose from!
Swim - 450 Yards, Bike - 12 Miles, Run - 5 Kilometers
Swim - 1,100 Yards, Bike - 19 Miles, Run - 10 Kilometers
You can complete the Tinman in a group or individually! Please note - you or your team must complete either course in 3 hours or less.
The Tinman is a great way to get a start on your race season. We offer both Sprint and Olympic distances with a pool swim and moderately challenging bike and run courses.
The race begins with a swim in our 8-lane pool, then switches to a bike ride. The run passes along and through the scenic Pomme de Terre River valley and ends on the UMM campus.
Stick around following the race to enjoy the awards ceremony and refreshments. We hope to see you there!
1,100 or 450 yards (Olympic/sprint) in the P.E. Center pool (22/9 laps). Wetsuits allowed. Most swimmers will be sharing a lane with 1-3 others. Because of this, circle swimming is recommended. You will be placed with swimmers of a similar caliber.
Olympic distance race will begin first; sprint triathletes to follow at the conclusion of the Olympic swim.
A 19 or 12 mile out-and-back course along Highways 59 and 10. All participants are required to wear a cycling helmet.
The 10k Olympic distance will run through Pomme de Terre Park, while the 5k will proceed up the Highway hill and loop through the West Central Research and Outreach Center. Both courses will finish back at the RFC lower lot.
Morris is located in west-central Minnesota, 50 minutes west of Interstate 94 on Minnesota State Highway 28 (Sauk Centre exit) or 50 minutes south of Fergus Falls on U.S. Highway 59 (I-94 exit #61).
The UMM campus is located on the east side of town, and is accessible via U.S. Highway 59.
